Keeping Yourself Motivated While Attempting Weight Loss

Do you wonder how you can continue to motivate yourself to lose weight rapidly? We all tend to be talking to ourselves most of the time. We refer to this silent, but constant conversation we are having as Self Talk. If you didn't know it, self-talk is incredibly powerful. You can convince yourself that certain things are real if you repeat them to yourself time and time again. As people our behavior tends to reflect our deepest beliefs. Very often, these things that you are repeating become prophecies that are self-fulfilled. For instance, by repeating to yourself that you are never going to be able to lose weight, you won't be able to take the necessary steps to do so. Basically, you are able to make yourself do anything you want, or you can make yourself not do something as well.

What do you think about your own self-talk? First, see what that little voice in the back of your mind is saying. Is that voice positive and helping you move toward your weight loss goal? Does it hold you back, instead, keeping you away from your weight loss goals? Keep in mind you can change that negative self-talk by choosing to think positively.

Here in this article I'll list several ways you can change your Self Talk so that it works best for you, and doesn't work against you!

Examples of Negative Self-Talk are:

* I'm just a completely hopeless failure. I haven't lost any weight this week. My family is overweight so I have no chance at being anything but fat. "I need to get to the gym"

Some illustrations of a good internal dialogue are:

* I exercised this week and ate healthy, even though the scale doesn't reflect that. * If I continue to make even these small changes, I'll hit my weight loss goals really soon. My healthy habits will lead to weight loss.

* I know lots of people who are changing their eating habits to get healthier. My body deserves the healthiest choices possible and there are others that agree with me.

* I am having lots of fun with my friends and new activities. "Food is a way to fuel my body's energy"

Positive self-talk is such a powerful tool when it comes to enhancing your own self-image, as well as removing whatever blocks are keeping you from your weight loss goals. Be sure to write down all your self-talk as you learn to incorporate this habit. You will start to be objective when it comes to thoughts about you and your goals concerning losing weight. You might try using a daily diary to write down an inventory of what worked well for you every day. What did you do really well today? Think about these things that are positive and get rid of anything that is negative, and then realize how tomorrow can be a better day. Don't be afraid to give yourself a pat on the back every time you accomplish a goal, even the small ones. Keep in mind that you will be able to lose weight better by thinking you are able to do it. It is normal to not believe in yourself and to feel as though you will never meet your goals. However, we can turn our negative beliefs into positive ones, and in turn, develop confidence. By believing in yourself, your goals are within reach.
